Steps To Breed Cows
1. Find Two Cows To Breed
We first need to find two cows to start the breeding process. If you have trouble finding cows, you can summon them with a trick or use a spawn egg.
We need the cows to stay close together, so it’s a good idea to build a fence around them.
2. Feed The Cows Wheat
Then, with the cows very close together, we have to feed each cow with wheat. Select the wheat in your Hotbar and feed each cow separately using the following in-game controls:
- Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition: Right click on the cow.
- Pocket Edition (PE): Touch the cow.
- Xbox 360, Xbox One: Press the LT button.
- PS3, PS4: Press the L2 button.
- Wii U, Nintendo Switch: Press the ZL Button
After you feed the cows wheat, you will see red hearts appear. This means that the cows go into love mode.
As soon as the red hearts disappear, a baby cow (calf) appears. It usually takes about 20 minutes for the baby cow to reach maturity. However, you can speed up that process by feeding the calf wheat.
And you have to wait 5 minutes before your cows can breed again.
This is how cows are raised in Minecraft! Minecraft cows are a passive mob that is a source of raw meat, milk, and leather.

In order to breed animals in Minecraft, you’ll need to feed each animal a certain type of food. Once fed, hearts will appear, indicating the animal is ready to breed. Players can feed wheat to cows by right-clicking on the cow with wheat in their hands. This food will cause the cows to enter love mode. When two cows are in love mode, it’s possible for them to breed. This creates baby cows, which are both adorable and tiny.

You can breed the same two only once in five minutes. You get one young for each two adult animals that you feed in your herd. The babies will take about 20 minutes to grow up, so don’t kill too many adults too fast.

In Minecraft, you can add milk to your inventory by milking a cow. Milk is used in crafting recipes to make cakes and can also be drank to remove potion effects.

Lately, I have noticed that you can now feed baby animals. When you feed them, you get the same animation as when you use bonemeal on a plant (little green stars).
