FAQ’s

1. How do trapped chests work in Minecraft?

A Trapped Chest is a Redstone-related block that will emit a weak Redstone signal when a player opens it. As more players peer into the chest, the Redstone signal will gradually increase. Trapped chests can primarily be used to create traps, but can also create a few nifty Redstone creations.

2. Can you lock chests in Minecraft?

Chests (and maybe other inventories and doors) can be locked with a key that can be crafted with gold. To lock a chest, you hold a key and shift-right-click the chest to be locked. The Key and the chest will now have sort of an id or something, that makes the key unique and the key is bound to that chest.

3. How do you make a minecraft trap?

Just build a hole in the floor next to a wall in your house. Cover it with a trap door and then put a button on the wall next to it. Now, if you press the button the trap door will open. Any nosy neighbours will fall to their doom!

4. How do you lock a trapped chest?

A trapped chest can be “locked” by setting the trapped chest’s Lock tag. If a trapped chest’s Lock tag is not blank, the trapped chest cannot be opened except by players holding an item with the same name as the Lock tag’s text. A trapped chest’s Lock tag can be set or unset with the data command.

5. Can villagers open trapdoors?

Yes. In fact, villagers can only open wooden doors. Villagers can’t open fence gates or trap doors, nor can they use buttons or levers, allowing you to use iron doors, iron trapdoors, or just about any redstone-based door mechanism without them being able to escape.
