Steps To Make A Daylight Sensor
1. Open Your Crafting Menu
To create a daylight sensor, you must first open your artboard in Minecraft. You should see the same grid as in the image below.
2. Add The Daylight Sensor Items To The Menu
On the workbench, add the 3 bottom quartz slabs, 3 glass and 3 wood of your choice (oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, crimson, or warped slabs) to the grid. In this tutorial we will be using oak boards.
You need to add the items to the grid exactly as shown in the image below. In the 1st row, place 1 redstone torch in the 2nd box. Place the 3 glasses in the 1st row. In the second row, place the 3 bottom quartz. And put the 3 wooden plates in the 3rd row. This is the Minecraft daylight sensor recipe.
Once you’ve added the items to the crafting grid as described above, you’ll notice the daylight sensor in the box on the right.
3. Move The Daylight Sensor To Your Inventory
Now drag the daylight sensor into your inventory so you can use it.
That is! A Minecraft daylight sensor, also called a daylight detector, is a block that activates redstone depending on whether it is day or night.

FAQ’s
1. When did Minecraft add daylight sensors?
Daylight sensors were added in Java Edition 1.5 snapshot 13w01a. The ability to toggle between day and night mode was added in update 1.8 snapshot 14w31a.
2. How do I craft a daylight sensor in Minecraft?
To make a daylight sensor, place 3 glass, 3 nether quartz, and 3 wood slabs in the 3×3 crafting grid. When crafting with wood slabs, you can use any kind of wood slab, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, crimson, or warped slabs.
3. How do daylight sensors work Minecraft?
A Daylight Sensor is a redstone block in Minecraft. It functions as a “Light detector” or “solar panel” of sorts. A daylight sensor gives an analog redstone output – in early morning, the signal is only enough to light up about 5 tiles of redstone dust; at midday, it strengthens to 15 blocks.
4. How do you activate a daylight sensor?
The Basic Alarm Clock. Place a daylight sensor under no or only clear blocks. Make a trail of redstone leading to a machine activated by redstone. When daylight hits the daylight sensor, the machine will activate.
5. How do you make an inverted daylight sensor in Minecraft?
A daylight detector can be “inverted”, which reverses the power levels produced by the daylight detector. To invert a daylight detector, aim at the placed daylight detector and use the “Use Item/Place Block” control.
6. How do you make daylight sensors turn on at night?
Another way to detect nighttime is by right-clicking the daylight detector, which turns it into an inverted daylight sensor. Using the inverted daylight detector instead of a not gate to turn on lamps makes the lights turn on early evening to sunrise.
7. How much light does a Redstone Lamp give off?
It’s the redstone lamp! Redstone lamps came to Minecraft in 2012 in update 1.2. 1 – which also added iron golems, ocelots, chiseled stone bricks and jungle biomes. They give off a light level of 15 – the same as fire and glowstone – but only when powered by redstone.
