How To Plant Beetroot In Minecraft

1. Find Or Place Down Water

First we need to find a small body of water or create our own. In our example, we dug a hole 5 blocks long and filled it with water.

2. Use Your Hoe

Next, choose a hoe from your Hotbar (any hoe will do) and prepare the soil around the water. You can hoe with the following controls on your game controller:

• Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition – Right click on the block.
• Pocket Edition (PE): Tap the block.
• Xbox 360, Xbox One: Press the LT button.
• PS3, PS4: Press the L2 button.
• Wii U, Nintendo Switch: Press the ZL button.

After using the hoe and removing the top layer of soil, you will notice that the blocks have turned brown. Now you are ready to plant your beet seeds.

3. Plant The Seeds

Select the beet seeds in your Hotbar and plant them in the soil blocks you used your hoe on before. Plant your seeds using the following controls on your game controller:

Select bone meal on your Hotbar and use the following in-game controls to fertilize your beet plants:

• Pocket Edition (PE): Tap the plant.
• Xbox 360, Xbox One: Press the LT button.
• PS3, PS4: Press the L2 button.

If you use the bone meal, you will notice that the plants get bigger. When your beet farm is fully grown, we can harvest the plant.

5. Harvest The Beetroot

Finally, we want to bring in the harvest. To do this, simply break the beetroot crop using the following controls on your game controller:

• Java Edition (PC/Mac), Windows 10 Edition, Education Edition – Left click on the plant.
• Pocket Edition (PE) – Touch and hold the plant.
• Xbox 360, Xbox One: Press the RT button.
• PS3, PS4: Press the R2 button.

After breaking the plant you will see that a beet floats where the plant was. Make sure to pick the beets before they disappear.
